Zagreb

Zagreb is the largest and the capital city of the Republic of Croatia and economic, administrative and cultural center. Located in continental Croatia, it is located at the center of routes between Central and Southeastern Europe. The city has 17 city districts, which are connected by public transport.

According to the latest census metropolitan area has about one million inhabitants, the most important sectors of the economy including the food industry, pharmaceutical industry, textile and manufacturing of electrical appliances. In addition, Zagreb is a business and commercial center between Central and Eastern Europe. As such, the city is the Croatian centre and has the largest selection of properties to buy or rent. With the building of the old construction, a large number of newly constructed buildings and housing and building land are outside the city center.


Sights

With a rich history and heritage, Zagreb has a number of attractions, among which are the historical core of Gradec, St. Mark Stone Gate, Lotrščak, Cathedral, Monument to Ban Jelacic on main square, Croatian National Theatre, Museum of Mimara, Croatian State Archives, and many others.


Interests

Way back in 1987, Summer Universitade was held in Zagreb XIV, where athletes from around the world performed, and it is known by especially interesting mascot Zagi. Later in Zagreb numerous sports facilities were opened, and especially important is Drazen Petrovic Basketball Centre, Hall that bears the name of Croatian basketball great player and beside that in 2006 Memorial Drazen Petrovic was opened.
